  • The Work

This Grade 11* listed building which has been derelict from 2007 has been carefully restored for Resurrection Manifestations located on Essex Road, Islington. Richmond provided internal layout plans and sections to assist with obtaining Listed Building Consent in 2013 for this former Carlton Cinema as part of a phased approach of refurbishment to the building, for both church and community use.

Careful restoration to damaged plastered columns and cornice detail, which in certain areas had been destroyed by water penetration, along with re-opening the glazing to the front elevation has brought a new lease of life to this historic building. The property incorporates an auditorium with traditional fixed cinema seating and stage with full multi media capabilities, beautiful entrance foyer and lobby spaces with additional smaller meeting rooms, and a full administration block over four floors to accommodate all church office requirements.

We look forward to the time when the refurbishment can be completed in taking in the balcony and upper floor areas.

    Endorsement

I just wanted to say a sincere thank Richmond on behalf of St Paul’s for all your hard work last week. The church family were delighted yesterday with the way the Worship Area looked and to my knowledge there were no negative comments.

I wanted to add my personal thanks to you, Raymond, Nigel and all the team for making a stressful week appear so easy by your cheery and positive attitudes. Equally importantly for us, you finished on time despite a tight schedule with no room for error!. My colleagues and I were also very grateful for the way your guys did not hesitate to offer help when we were clearing stuff away. It made our part of the job so much easier. Please pass on our thanks.
